Frida, Reimagined: When Storage Becomes Furniture

Frida, Reimagined: When Storage Becomes Furniture

There is something about proper storage that changes the way a room feels.

Not more storage. Not bigger storage. Proper storage.

When we first designed the Frida Bedside, it was about refinement. Soft curves. Considered proportions. A piece that felt light but grounded at the same time. It quietly held what you needed without drawing attention to itself.

The Frida Chest of Drawers is its natural evolution.

Not bigger for the sake of it. More grounded. More architectural. A piece that carries the same design language, simply expanded with intention.

Because when storage is done well, it does not feel bulky. It feels calm.

Why good storage should feel calm

Clutter rarely builds because we own too much. It builds because what we own does not have a proper place.

Shallow drawers. Temporary furniture. Flat pack solutions that were meant to solve a quick problem. These pieces often lack depth, both physically and visually. They sit lightly in a room but add noise. They compete rather than support.

When drawers glide smoothly and hold what they are meant to hold, something shifts. The room feels settled. Your morning routine feels smoother. Even your decisions feel clearer because your environment is not asking for constant attention.

There is a quiet psychology to this.

Smooth drawers. Generous depth. Solid weight. These are small daily luxuries that slowly influence how you move through your space.

The quiet hero of the bedroom

A chest of drawers is rarely the centrepiece of a room. It is not meant to shout.

But it often becomes the anchor.

It balances the bed. It grounds the wall. It carries the rhythm of daily life. Clothing folded away. Jewellery stored. Surfaces kept simple.

When designed with restraint, it supports the room without overwhelming it.

With the Frida Chest, we focused on proportion. Soft curves to echo the bedside. Clean lines that prevent visual heaviness. A silhouette that feels substantial but not bulky.

The repetition of design language matters. When pieces relate to each other, the room feels cohesive. Not styled. Settled.

Material honesty and permanence

Solid timber gives a piece weight and permanence. It does not feel temporary. It does not feel disposable.

Timber ages. It softens in tone. It gathers subtle marks that tell the story of use. It does not expire with trends.

Each Frida Chest is made from solid timber in our Cheltenham workshop. The drawers are fitted with soft closing mechanisms, a small detail that becomes part of your everyday rhythm. No slamming. No resistance. Just quiet function.

The bottom shelf can be crafted in Danish paper cord or solid timber.

The paper cord introduces lightness and texture. It softens the piece and adds warmth, especially in brighter rooms.

The solid timber option feels more architectural. Stronger. More grounded.

Both are honest. Both are intentional. The choice simply changes the mood.

The case for proper storage

Temporary furniture solves immediate problems. Thoughtful furniture solves long term ones.

When storage feels intentional, clutter reduces naturally. You become more selective about what you keep because your furniture invites care.

A well made chest changes how you use your bedroom. Surfaces stay clearer. Drawers close properly. The space feels considered rather than managed.

This is why we believe in buy once, buy well.

The Frida Chest of Drawers is not about adding more. It is about refining what is already there. Giving your belongings a proper home. Creating a sense of permanence in a world that often feels rushed.

It is storage that becomes furniture.

And furniture that quietly supports the way you want to live.
